Cumbrae Lodge

Cumbrae Lodge was purpose built in 1996 to facilitate the closure of the local psychiatric hospital. It has recently undergone an extensive refurbishment and redecoration programme. The large garden areas provide and ideal setting for residents to socialise. Residents are actively encouraged to individualise their rooms with personal items of furniture and decor. They are also encouraged to make full use of their rooms, the spacious lounge area or the quiet rooms in each department. In addition, if residents wish, they can visit any of the four other care facilities within Cumbrae Lodge.

Care is provided in consultation with the residents and their relatives, by a multi professional team. All social and psychological needs are addressed as well as physical requirements ensuring a true, holistic environment. Our goals are centred on maintaining and enhancing independence for our residents and, in so doing, preserve their dignity and comfort. Specially appointed key workers within the Home take a social interest in residents, as well as the physical, emotional, psychological and spritual care they require. Consultant psychiatrists visit weekly and residents have free access to the full range of hospital professionals.

Two activities co-ordinators ensure there is a wealth of activities in which residents can become involved. The activities are designed to cater for residents of varying capabilities, to ensure everyone receives stimulation and encouragement. We also have visiting entertainers who put on concerts in the specially designed entertainment area. Residents are able to relax in our Snoozelen room or can make full use of our mini bus to take trips along the towns and features of the beautiful Ayrshire coast. In addition to this Cumbrae Lodge has a busy hairdressing salon with two qualified hairdressers on hand.
