How to find us

Caerlan is a 12 bedded independent hospital, specialising in the short and longer term rehabilitation of individuals with learning disabilities, varying degrees of mental health disorders and challenging behaviour. Set at the top of Llantrisant Hill, Caerlan enjoys stunning countryside views, but is only five minutes from all the amenities of a small town and leisure centre.

The Home

Caerlan is a converted farmhouse comprising two separate units, providing specialised care and treatment for adults with diverse needs. The centre is registered to care for those detained under the Mental Health Act 1983. The aim of the centre is to provide an environment for care and rehabilitation through individual care programmes with each resident being assigned a primary nurse and key worker. The centre consists of twelve single rooms, 2 lounges which are spacious and comfortable and a conservatory which opens onto a private, secure garden.

The Care

The hospital has a team of highly committed staff experienced in listening, understanding and responding to client’s needs and actively supporting a therapeutic approach. Individual care plans allow each individual to achieve their potential. Caerlan promotes Craegmoors’ communication strategy called “Your Voice” which ensures that each individual, based on their preferred method of communication, is able to have a voice on how their supported care is provided. Monthly service user meetings are held where individuals are able to represent the views and voices of fellow service users. This is extended to a voice at area, divisional and national level. Caerlan liaises with families, community organisations, social services departments and purchasing authorities to support Person Centred Care Planning, and ensures full account is taken of social, emotional, cultural and spiritual needs of all individuals.

The Facilities

Caerlan is close to all local amenities including recreation parks, cinema, shops and pubs which are visited under supervision on a regular basis. The hospital is located in a quiet setting with well-maintained gardens and a secluded courtyard area where the clients can enjoy peaceful surroundings. The site has a converted barn for social, recreational and educational activities.
