Winston House Care Home provides quality nursing and respite care for the elderly and young physically disabled. The Home enjoys a prime location on Southport’s Promenade, with views overlooking the Marine Lake and Fylde coast, just minutes away from Southport town centre, all its amenities and the newly built Ocean Plaza with Megabowls and 7 screen cinema.
The Home
Originally built in the late 1800s, Winston House was converted to a nursing home in the 1940s and continued to operate as a home for wounded servicemen until change of ownership in 1978. In 1988 the Fearnley Hotel next-door was purchased, and the two buildings were combined to form the current 64-bedded nursing home. Since 1998 further improvements and modernisation have taken place, including a games room and restoration of the dining room. Whist maintaining its traditional warmth and homely atmosphere, the single or shared rooms with en-suite facilities have been adapted to meet the needs of our client groups. Every room has a 24-hour nurse call system.
The Care
Our multi-disciplinary team of staff are both dedicated and skilled. Their aim is to ensure our residents have happy, comfortable and fulfiled lives. We provide an holistic approach to care, which is enhanced by our strong emphasis on social activities. We are fully supported by outside professionals, including GPs and occupational therapists. In addition, we are able to offer physiotherapy, massage and aromatherapy sessions. We operate a key worker system which further enhances the individuality of the care provided. 24-hour nursing care is provided by our staff who are vastly experienced in their field.
The Facilities
We have a full activities programme which varies from week to week. These are selected by our residents and arranged by our team of activities co-ordinators. Activities such as yoga, trips to the theatre and themed party nights are just some examples of what is on offer to ensure an interesting and varied stay at Winston House. The games room and activities room are well utilised on a daily basis and our individualised lounges provide the setting for many impromptu get-togethers.
