How to find us

Westbury Lodge is situated on the outskirts of Westbury, close to local amenities with the county town of Trowbridge, a short train ride away. This service provides care and support for adults, all of whom have mild to moderate learning difficulties, including sensory loss and some behaviour that is regarded as challenging.

The Home

The Home provides spacious and well-maintained accommodation for nine adults. There is a self-contained flat for more independent living, one ground floor bedroom and seven single bedrooms on the first floor. Two bedrooms benefit from en-suite facilities and there is a communal lounge, dining room, laundry room and fully fitted kitchen. Each resident is encouraged to express an interest in the decor of their communal environment, having a more informed choice regarding the decoration of their bedroom through choice of colour and furniture. The large private enclosed garden surrounds the property with ample lawn area to relax in the summer month and flowerbeds created with the residents selection of colour.

The Care

Our dedicated team of staff, including support workers, a maintenence person and cleaner, ensure there is an all round provision of comfort, good food and professional 24-hour care in a relaxed and personalised environment. Individuals are supported by their key workers to overcome emotional and personal issues to enable them to make informed decisions, thereby building self-esteem and independence. Care plans are written in consultation with individual residents, their family or advocate and external professionals, evaluated monthly and reviewed yearly by all concerned with the well being of the resident. There is an extended staff team that Westbury Lodge have access to consult. This team includes Consultant Psychiatrists, Community Nurses, Behaviour Nurses, Psychotherapists and Occupational Therapists.

The Facilities

Residents are offered tailor-made activity programmes which are discussed and agreed with each person through informal and formal reviews. Activities range from educational courses to therapeutic sessions. Services used are located in Westbury and Trowbridge. Residents access the college, day centres, rescource centres and supported employment for a variety of planned activities such a woodwork, horticulture, literacy and numeracy, art, aromatherapy or personal image. Westbury provides amenities for socialising which include community swimming baths, restaurants, library and cafes. Trips to towns further afield are planned on a regular basis and residents are supported to use public transport to visit towns. Westbury Lodge has its own people carrier.
