How to find us
|
Ty Gwyn Hall is an independent hospital, which provides 24 hour nursing care to adult clients diagnosed with a severe and enduring mental illness. The hospital is situated in extensive grounds approximately two miles from the attractive town of Abergavenny in South Wales.
The Hospital
Ty Gwyn Hall is an elegant mid Victorian country house set in its own extensive grounds, situated two miles north of Abergavenny in South Wales. The hospital provides 24 hour nursing care to adult clients who have a diagnosis of mental illness and behavioural problems in both single and shared rooms. Expanded services at Ty Gwyn will be fully commissioned and operational in early 2008 including modern purpose built therapeutic facilities.
The Treatment
Through the use of a pragmatic and cognitive based approach to treatment our experienced multi disciplinary team encourage our clients to exercise choice and work towards independence. Ty Gwyn Hall promotes Craegmoors’ communication strategy called “Your Voice” which ensures that each individual, based on their preferred method of communication, is able to have a voice on how their supported care is provided. Monthly service user meetings are held where individuals are able to represent the views and voices of fellow service users. This is extended to a voice at area, divisional and national level. Ty Gwyn Hall liaises with families, community organisations, social services departments and purchasing authorities to support Person Centred Care Planning, and ensures full account is taken of social, emotional, cultural and spiritual needs of all individuals.
The Facilities
Ty Gwyn Hall has a purpose built activities department that comprises three dedicated areas that include a fully fitted ADL kitchen, relaxation and therapy rooms. The activity coordinator and team work with the clients to provide structured activities. There is a smallholding with pigs and goats which clients can take an active role in looking after. Also provided are inhouse educational opportunities and training courses at local facilities. We have also successfully placed a number of clients in paid and voluntary work in the community.
