Station Road care home provides quality care based on respect for the residents, their right to make choices, maintain dignity and receive the best care to suit individual needs. All accommodation is provided to people with mild to moderate learning disabilities and challenging behaviour. The home is situated in a tranquil area of Winchmore Hill with easy access to the cosmopolitan local shops and amenities.
The Home
Station Road care home offers a warm and homely environment with opportunities for residents to extend and enhance the quality of their day-to-day living. The home has been tastefully decorated throughout both the spacious main house and the three bedroom apartment with individual décor in each bedroom to meet the requirements and needs of each individual resident. We offer accommodation to 15 residents with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour. Both the main house and the three bedroom apartment has its’ own fitted kitchen, lounge/dining room, walk-in shower rooms and WC’s. There is a laundry room situated in the main house and separate facilities in the apartment. To the rear of the property, there is a secluded garden which offers a relaxing atmosphere and a quiet retreat. The residents of Station Road are encouraged to personalise their own space and the décor is chosen by them.
The Care
The care at Station Road is delivered by a dedicated and professional multi-disciplinary team committed to providing quality care focused on the needs of the residents. Our ratio of staff to service users ensures a supportive framework of care in which our residents can achieve their potential within a safe environment with dignity and respect. Station Road promotes Craegmoors’ communication strategy called “Your Voice” which ensures that each individual, based on their preferred method of communication, is able to have a voice on how their supported care is provided. Monthly service user meetings are held where individuals are able to represent the views and voices of fellow service users. This is extended to a voice at area, divisional and national level. Station Road liaises with families, community organisations, social services departments and purchasing authorities to support Person Centred Care Planning and ensures full account is taken of social, emotional, cultural and spiritual needs of all individuals.
The Facilities
Each of our residents has a dedicated key worker who organises a wide range of daily activities both in and out of the home which are planned in conjunction with the wishes of our residents. The residents enjoy swimming, horse riding, bowling, trips to cinema, outings to pubs, shopping. College courses are available and include music, art, communication, speech, cooking, relaxation, arts and crafts, dancing or gardening. Residents are encouraged to pursue and retain their own interests. One-to-one support is provided where required and all activities are arranged to meet the residents’ individual needs. They are also encouraged to keep their rooms tidy and assist with their own personal laundry. Residents’ families are invited to come to the house and their support is valued by all at Station Road.
