St. Marks Court Care Home provides a very high standard of quality nursing and respite care for the elderly. It is part of a small community close to the city centre, yet only ten minutes from the coast, with its beaches and marina area.
The Home
St. Marks is a purpose built nursing home, built in 1992. The Home has an excellent reputation within the community and maintains very close links with both churches, with twice-weekly communion services. The Home provides nursing care for up to forty residents in thirty eight single rooms and one double room, many with en-suite facilities. The Home boasts several large, light well aired sitting rooms where residents can choose to spend time with their friends and family, as well as two small quiet lounges for those who prefer some peace and quiet in their day. The patio area with its pergola provides a relaxing area to sit during the summer.
The Care
The Manager and Deputy at St. Marks are highly committed and dedicated to the care of the elderly in a homely environment. We have a team of qualified nurses, supported by a group of loyal and highly motivated care staff, many of whom have trained to NVQ level or in the process of doing so. We are supported by the wider multi disciplinary team of GPs, Chiropodist, Dentists, Dietician, CPNs and other health care professionals. We feel we not only care for our residents but also the holistic needs of their families within our very friendly relaxed homely home. We do have a hydrotherapy pool which serves to enhance the care that residents receive.
The Facilities
We have an activities organiser at St. Marks who co-ordinates with our care staff in providing a varied and enjoyable activities programme. We have daily activities such as bingo, house quiz, board games, sing a longs, video afternoons and horse riding. We go on regular outings in our converted minibus to places of special interest and also to enjoy lunch out at a local restaurant, or just for a drive to the Gower Penninsula to take in the breath taking views. We also have regular entertainers in to sing. St. Marks maintain close links with the local churches and schools and welcomes them regularly to sing or perform small shows.
