How to find us

Orchid Lawns is a 24-bedded facility catering for individual’s suffering from organic dementia and challenging behaviour. All of our residents are over the age of 65 predominantly. The Home is within Steppingley Hospital Grounds and has open views from all angles across the countryside. It is close to the towns of Flitwick and Ampthill and about 10 miles from Bedford. The Home is fully contracted to Bedfordshire Health Authority.

The Home

Orchid Lawns is a small, friendly unit catering for the local community with mental health needs. It is an impressive bungalow style property, of the new build variety, split into three smaller units of eight rooms each. There are large fenced gardens, which are well tended, and there is access to this area from all angles of the Home. We operate an open door policy and are always happy to welcome vistors. Each of the rooms looks out onto the gardens and open views and the rooms are all en-suite. There are three bathing suites in the unit; each has a well maintained special bath and a Jacuzzi. The Home also benefits from a family room and a pleasant conservatory.

The Care

Here at Orchid Lawns we work on a person centered approach, employing an holistic model to each individual. Each resident has a care package which meets their needs and the qualified staff reviews these regularly. The care is delivered by a team of professionals who are adequately trained for their roles within the Home.

The Facilities

The emphasis of the Home is very much about enabling individuals to maintain their independence for as long as possible, and as such we try to maintain daily living activities, linking with the local community wherever possible. We offer a range of individualised activities within the Home and externally. These include games, bingo, cooking, coffee mornings, tea parties as well as trios to the local market and garden centre.
