Merseybank Care Home offers a wide range of nursing and respite care for the young physically disabled, the elderly and the elderly mentally ill. We are located in the High Peak of Derbyshire within easy reach of Manchester and Stockport but, only a short drive away from the Peak District National Park.
The Home
Merseybank was originally built by wealthy cotton mill owners as a residential house. Once owned by a local GP, the house has been extended and converted for use as a nursing home retaining many of the original features. The Home provides nursing and respite care to the residents and is split into four individual units with specialist facilities for young disabled, elderly frail and mentally disabled residents. We have an extensive walled garden with a large patio area and built-in barbecue. The Home has its own pets including two cats and several visiting dogs. We have excellent links with the local community and regularly visit clubs and neighbouring towns and villages.
The Care
Merseybank has a full multi-disciplinary care team. Care is planned on an individual basis where residents, relatives and care professionals all participate in the development of individually tailored care plans. Our GP service is provided by a local practice and we have a visiting Physiotherapist, Chiropodist and Optician. Merseybank offers an active programme of diversional therapy for the residents to ensure quality of life. We can also arrange visits by other complimentary therapists. The Home can also offer short term respite care and has the skills and experience to support all levels of independence, by qualified, experienced staff and NVQ qualified care assistants.
The Facilities
The Home has a full and varied activities programme with many external trips to the seaside and local tourist places arranged in our own fully adapted minibus. Visiting entertainers also perform at the Home to the delight of residents. Personal laundry is cared for by our in-house team and a dry cleaning company calls daily. Family and friends are encouraged to visit residents and participate in home activities wherever possible. Our cook provides healthy meals suited to all dietary requirements. In-house activities include ball games, manicures, movement to music, quizzies and painting with local artist.
