How to find us

Alphonsus House is a residential Care Home supporting adults with learning disability which may be coupled with physical disability. The Home is situated in the residential area of Langley, West Midlands, within easy reach of shopping and leisure facilities and supported by the rail and bus network.

The Home

Alphonsus House was established in 1989 by Alphonsus Services, from where the name was taken, and was taken over by Craegmoor Healthcare in July 1999. Alphonsus House consists of three Victorian terraced houses with 14 single rooms and four double rooms of which six are with en-suite facilities. Residents have the right to choose the decor for their bedrooms and also have a choice in the decor for the rest of the Home which helps to create a feeling of belonging and homeliness.

The Care

Care at Alphonsus House is delivered by experienced, dedicated staff, who benefit from a progressive training programme aimed towards achieving NVQ standards. The staff team are committed to providing a safe environment in which residents can explore freedom of choice and expression and take decisions associated with everyday living. Staff offer support to individuals in focusing on their abilities and needs, not their disabilities. This is achieved by facilitating independence and dignity, through the development and review of individual care plans.

The Facilities

Alphonsus House provides a wide range of resident centred activities, both within the Home and at external venues. A well established day care programme is operational with residents involved in training for daily living skills including cookery, washing and other domestic chores, arts and crafts and gardening. Residents also attend day centres within the local community and regular social activities include cinema visits, day trips and pub outings. Each year, residents have the opportunity to take a holiday. Appropriate venues are selected using defined criteria - primarily resident’s choice - and all procedures required are followed throughout the planning and the actual holiday.
