Mental Health
Beechley Drive supports eight people with learning disabilities and past or present mental illnesses. The service comprises of two separate units with four people living in each. Our aim is to provide individuals with the best quality of life possible whilst integrating everyone into the community to lead a life that is as independent as possible given their needs and abilities.
Overview of service
Beechley drive ensures quality care and support at all times by providing a high, well-trained staff ratio 24-hours a day. The service is led by a Service Manager with the support of a Deputy Manager, experienced Senior Support Workers and Support Workers. The team is structured to ensure those who use our service are supported in such a way as to promote their independence, individuality, privacy and dignity. Everyone is encouraged to participate in meetings promoting self advocacy and empowerment in a supportive environment.
Beechley Drive also has the support of a multi disciplinary team made up of professionals within the community in addition to the in house clinicians.
What it's like to live here
At Beechley Drive we try to ensure that those who use our service are as active as they wish to be and therefore we ensure that activities are regularly co-ordinated and evaluated. Where possible the individual will be fully involved in the development of their own personal activity timetable.
The activities include regular trips out to local venues such as museums, shopping, cinema, bowling etc. In-house activities include household skills training, board games, relaxation sessions, gardening and art & craft.
Education is also a significant part of the activity timetables and where possible external colleges and educational establishments are used. There is also the opportunity for work placements within the local area.
Surroundings
It is situated within a busy housing estate just outside Cardiff City Centre and hence has the benefits of many local amenities that a city offers.
Service facilities
Both houses are comfortable and spacious and there are two separate secluded rear gardens with patio areas and vegetable plots in addition to front lawn. We also have our own transport for the service.
