Tyn y Coed

Tyn y Coed is an independent hospital that provides treatment and support for adults with a diagnosed learning disability and a past or present mental health illness. The service is a locked door facility, with the focus around relational security and rehabilitation. Our dedication, enthusiasm and imagination rise to every challenge and make positive outcomes a reality.


What It's Like to Live Here

Everyone has their own personalised activity programme which they are supported to design. We encourage everyone to get involved in a wide variety of educational, vocational and leisure activities. Our occupational therapy team works with individuals on a 1:1 or group basis to suppor t their involvement in activities they have chosen as part of their rehabilitation.

Some of the occupational therapy based activities include cooking, road safety, budgeting and horticulture.

We encourage varied social and leisure activities. Some of the activities enjoyed by individuals at Tyn y Coed include attending the local g ym or sports centre, going shopping or going to the local pub.


Surroundings

Tyn y Coed is situated in a rural location with lovely views of the surrounding valley and individuals living here often go on walks to enjoy the scenic views.


Service Facilities

The garden is a great place to relax in and in the summer months we hold BBQs and garden parties.

Everyone is encouraged and supported to personalise their own rooms.

Our chef produces a wide variety of home cooked nutritious meals, which are tailored to individual dietary requirements.

At the service, a chef regularly engages with everyone to ascertain their preferences.

A Welcome From the Service Manager

Hello. I'm Angela, manager of Tyn y Coed Independent Hospital which can accommodate seven gentlemen and three females who will have a diagnosis of learning disability and a past or present mental health illness, in a safe and homely environment.
