The Old Rectory Trowbridge

At the Old Rectory we support people with Autism who may also have a learning disability. We do everything we can to improve the health and wellbeing of the individuals we support and as a team we are focused on building positive outcomes for everyone.
Overview of Service
We support people with Autism who may also have a learning disability. Staffing ratios are dependent upon individual needs and we offer 24 hour support.
The Old Rectory promotes Craegmoor's communication strategy, "Your Voice", which encourages individuals, based on their preferred method of communication, to voice their views about the support they receive. Monthly meetings are held where individuals are able to represent the views and voices of others living at the service.
What it's Like to Live Here
The staff team work with individuals to develop an activities timetable and enable everyone to have the opportunity to lead a fun and meaningful lifestyle. We also support people to find employment and to take advantage of educational opportunities.
Being part of the local community is something that we actively encourage and we support individuals to attend regular social events. There is an in-house skills centre where people can learn daily living skills such as cookery, computer skills and gardening.
There are also more therapeutic activities on offer such as art and music sessions.
The local college offers a range of life skills and relaxation courses for people with a learning disability. We support people to access these courses.
We also support people with their individual hobbies and interests, including swimming sessions, music therapy, horse riding and work placements.
Surroundings
The Old Rectory is close to the centre of Trowbridge, with shopping centres, museums, theatres, swimming pools, a gym and colleges all within easy walking distance. There is a train station and bus stops very close to the service, with good transport links to other towns and cities. Within the area there are also many country parks, canal walks and nature reserves, that can be easily accessed for more relaxing activities.
Service Facilities
The Old Rectory is a large and spacious house; there are 2 lounges and 2 areas to dine in.
There is a very large garden with fruit trees and areas to sit. There are 6 bedrooms on the first floor, 2 of which have en-suite bathrooms and there are 2 ground floor rooms, both also with en-suites. People living at The Old Rectory are encouraged and supported to decorate and furnish their rooms to their own individual taste.
There is a working allotment at the service, where people participate in planting, growing and picking their own fruit and vegetables, and help to look after the chickens.
