The Oaks Sidcup

The Oaks cares for up to 111 people with a variety of needs including people assessed for NHS Continuing care. The Care Centre was last inspected in January 2008 and obtained a 2 star, good rating. We are aware that many people with Dementia will have a variety of needs and our team includes both Registered Mental Health and Registered General nurses to provide 24 hour nursing care.

What it's like to live here

We have a number of activity groups such as lunch clubs, gardening and a recently added bike maintenance group. We also try to encourage visits to local pubs and restaurants in the area. Although we have a dedicated activity team all staff are encouraged to involve people in a number of different activities.

Surroundings

Situated on the A20 the service is easily accessible from London and Kent and free parking is provided. We are close to both Sidcup and Eltham high streets and we have a wheelchair accessible minibus, which can be used for trips out of the home.

Service facilities

The Oaks is separated into six individual units with a combination of single and shared rooms. All the rooms have ensuite toilet and washing facilities. We have a separate activities annex and surrounding gardens which are designed and enclosed in a way to maximise the freedom and safety of the people living here. We also have a room in the home that relatives can stay in at times when this is needed.

We offer a home for life as long as needs can be safely managed and with the support of our local primary care trusts we are able to offer palliative care so that people can stay in an environment with which they are comfortable. We have close links with a local Medical practice, Dental practice, Opticians, and offer Chiropody, Physiotherapy, reflexology and Massage.
