Redlands

Redlands supports people with learning disabilities and mental health problems. We aim to enable all individuals to make their own choices about the support they receive. We do everything we can to improve the health and wellbeing of the individuals we support and as a team we are focused on building positive outcomes for everyone.

Overview of Service

The level of support provided at Redlands is completely dependent on individuals' needs. We aim to enable all individuals to live as independently as possible.

Redlands promotes Craegmoor's communication strategy, "Your Voice", which encourages individuals, based on their preferred method of communication, to voice their views about the support they receive. Monthly meetings are held where individuals are able to represent the views and voices of others living at the service.

What it's Like to Live Here

Everyone gets involved at Redlands, choosing and planning what is going to happen.

The people that we support are encouraged through their Person Centred Plans to achieve their goals and aspirations. For some people this means attending college to access various courses, including cooking, art and daily living skills. For others it means work placements and other day opportunities in line with their goals.

Within the house we continually and consistently promote the development of social skills, independent living and personal responsibility. These include daily skills such as shopping, cooking, doing laundry and cleaning, and tasks are dependent upon an individual's ability. The people who live here are very proud of their home as they have so much involvement in creating it.

Surroundings

Redlands is situated just outside the centre of Newport and a local shopping centre is within easy walking distance.

There is easy access to the M4 motorway and also to the public transport on direct route to the city centre.

Service Facilities

Redlands is a detached house; it was extended a number of years ago and now has the facilities to support 7 people. It has 2 large living rooms and a bright roomy kitchen dining area. 4 of the bedrooms are en-suite.

The house has a secluded and private garden, with space for individuals to grow vegetables during the summer months. The patio and lawn area, with outside lighting, provide a pleasant area to enjoy a relaxing evening. Everyone is encouraged and supported to maintain the garden.
