Preston Avenue

At Preston Avenue we support people who have learning disabilities and Autism. We aim to provide a safe and homely environment, where everyone can make their own choices about the support they receive. We do everything we can to improve the health and wellbeing of the individuals we support and as a team we are focused on building positive outcomes for everyone.

What It's Like to Live Here

There are many activities to get involved in at Preston Avenue. The people that we support are encouraged through their Person Centred Plans to achieve their goals and aspirations. For some people this means attending college to access various courses, including cooking, art and daily living skills. For others it means work placements and other day opportunities in line with their goals. Some individuals do voluntary work in charity shops.

We encourage and support everyone to go out into the community to explore any future goals they may have and to maintain their independence.

Within the house we continually and consistently promote the development of social skills, independent living and personal responsibility. These include daily skills such as shopping, cooking, doing laundry and cleaning; tasks are dependent upon an individual's ability. The people who live here are very proud of their home as they have so much involvement in creating it.

Surroundings

The service is very close to Newport town centre and there are bus stops at each end of the street. There are also good train and motorway links. A library and a leisure centre are a few minutes away and Newport Castle is also close by, providing an interesting walk whilst looking at the ruins.

Service Facilities

Everyone is encouraged to decorate and personalise their bedrooms.

The house has a small garden to the front of the building and a courtyard to the rear.
