Millcroft

Millcroft provides support for people with profound and multiple learning disabilities. We aim to provide a safe and homely environment, where all individuals can make their own choices about the support they receive. We do everything we can to improve the health and wellbeing of the individuals we support and as a team we are focused on building positive outcomes for everyone.

Overview of Service

Millcroft offers a warm and homely environment and opportunities for individuals to extend and enhance the quality of their day to day living.

Individuals have varying levels of learning disabilities and are all supported by experienced staff that ensure that their physical, intellectual, emotional and social needs are met.

The support at Millcroft is delivered by a dedicated and professional Multi Disciplinary Team of staff, who are committed to providing quality support focused on the needs of each individual.

Millcroft promotes Craegmoor's communication strategy, "Your Voice", which encourages individuals, based on their preferred method of communication, to voice their views about the support they receive. Monthly meetings are held where individuals are able to represent the views and voices of others living at the service. This is extended to a voice at area, divisional and national level.

What it's Like to Live Here

The people that we support are encouraged through their Person Centred Plans to achieve their goals and aspirations. For some people this means attending college to access various courses, including cooking, art and daily living skills. For others it means work placements and other day opportunities in line with their goals.

Within the house we continually and consistently promote the development of social skills, independent living and personal responsibility. This includes daily skills such as shopping, cooking, doing laundry and cleaning, and tasks are dependent upon an individual's ability. The people who live here are very proud of their home as they have so much involvement in creating it.

Surroundings

Millcroft is situated in Barkway, near Royston. There is a bus service nearby and Royston has many shops and amenities.

Service Facilities

The service has been tastefully decorated throughout and individuals are encouraged and supported to personalise their bedrooms. A sensory room is also available.

There is specialist equipment for people with physical difficulties, including a wet room and hoists.

Everybody's dietary needs and preferences are catered for.
