Mews Bramley

At The Mews we support 8 people with a wide range of learning disabilities. We do everything we can to improve the health and wellbeing of the people we support and as a team we are focused on building positive outcomes for everyone.

Overview of Service

We are a brand new service created to transform traditional residential care into a modern, vibrant way of living and which represents a stepping stone towards independence.

The service is made up of 6 single, ultra modern apartments and 2 duplex apartments.

The assistive technology in each apartment provides a safe, private environment to live in, via the use of sensors fitted throughout each apartment. This means support staff can be alerted immediately to any issues which may arise. Situations such as wandering and falling, as well as environmental issues such as floods, fires, gas leaks, are all covered via the installation of these sensors. We also have electric gates for extra security.

What it's Like to Live Here

We encourage and support everyone to get involved in a wide variety of educational, vocational and leisure activities.

Everyone is encouraged to work towards developing key skills, which could be anything from learning basic cooking skills, to being able to book a holiday alone. Three skill levels have been devised which are "skills for me, moving up and moving on". Everyone is encouraged and assisted with their daily tasks and are supported to plan and budget in all areas.

People living at The Mews enjoy a range of activities including reading, socialising, using computers, playing games, baking, bowling and bike riding.

Surroundings

The Mews is located in the quaint setting of Bramley village in Rotherham town centre and there are lots of shops and restaurants nearby. The Mews is close to local bus and train stations and is accessible to motorway links for the M18.

Service Facilities

We have a large courtyard and patio area where individuals enjoy socialising and having BBQs during the summer months. The small border garden area is maintained by the individuals who live at The Mews.

All apartments are personalised to each person's choice and wishes.

Staff support individuals living at The Mews to plan and budget for meals and to shop for the ingredients. Staff also encourage individuals to maintain a balanced, healthy and nutritional diet.
