Meadow View Pontefract

Meadow View supports people with a range of learning disabilities. We aim to provide a safe and homely environment, where everyone can make their own choices about the support they receive. We do everything we can to improve the health and wellbeing of the individuals we support and as a team we are focused on building positive outcomes for everyone.

What It's Like to Live Here

There are a wide variety of activities available at Meadow View that everyone can get involved with. We support and encourage individuals to use the local amenities such as libraries and shops and organise regular trips to museums and to the coast. We often visit local restaurants and many of the individuals attend college courses.

Within the house we continually and consistently promote the development of social skills, independent living and personal responsibility. This includes daily skills such as shopping, cooking, doing laundry and cleaning; tasks are dependent upon an individual's ability. The people who live here are very proud of their home as they have so much involvement in creating it.

Surroundings

Meadow View is located in the village of Upton, which has a strong community spirit. There are local shops, clubs and parks, all within walking distance. The surrounding towns and cities are all accessible by public transport and include Pontefract, Wakefield, Barnsley, Doncaster, Selby and York. The service is 1 mile away from the A1 and M62 motorway.

Service Facilities

All rooms are on one level. There is a large lounge, a sports room with a pool table, a dining room and a kitchen. Everyone is supported and encouraged to choose their own furnishings and décor and to personalise their rooms to their individual taste.

The spacious garden is perfect for summer events such as BBQs and sports days. We also keep chickens and a rabbit and everyone can grow their own vegetables in our large allotment area.
