Mayfield House

Mayfield House offers a warm and homely environment, supporting up to 13 people with varying levels of learning disabilities and physical disabilities. We encourage and support everyone to make their own choices about the support they receive. We do everything we can to improve the health and wellbeing of the individuals we support and as a team we are focused on building positive outcomes for everyone.

What It's Like to Live Here

Everyone living at Mayfield House has a wide variety of activities they can get involved with, both in and out of the service. Individuals plan and choose which activities they would like to do. Some of these include going swimming, going bowling, trips out to places of interest, socialising in pubs, shopping and going to the cinema. People also choose and plan their holidays with staff support.

Everyone is encouraged to pursue and retain their own interests, as well as being supported to learn new skills. Staff ensure that there are plenty of activities available if people want to stay at the house. Indoor activities include jewellery making, baking, arts and crafts, gardening and many more.

Staff encourage everyone to be as active in the running of the house as possible. Everyone has their own bedroom that is decorated and personalised to their tastes.

Surroundings

Mayfield House is in easy walking distance of all local amenities. It is close to major bus routes and near to the M1 and M62 motorways, giving easy access to Leeds and Sheffield. Wakefield train station is just 4 miles away. The village of East Ardsley has local amenities such as pubs, shops, cafes, community centres and a library. The nearby towns of Leeds, Morley, Bradford and Wakefield are renowned for their shopping experiences, as well as cultural heritage. The whole area offers something for everyone; theatres, museums, theme parks, leisure facilities, colleges, a university and of course, the breathtaking scenery of the Yorkshire countryside.

Service Facilities

Mayfield House has a warm, friendly environment. The building is a 19th Century house with a large modern conservatory. The ground floor provides 7 bedrooms for people who need level access and use wheel chairs and the first floor has 6 bedrooms accessed by stairs. The lounge and dining room are tastefully decorated with a fresh modern feel to them.

There is a small patio to the side of the house, with a raised rockery area which leads to the back of the house. The back garden has an outdoor seating area and a BBQ that people enjoy using in the summer months.
