Kirklea

Kirklea provides support for 10 adults with learning disabilities.
Overview of service
Kirklea has a large lounge, a bright dining room with patio doors leading to a beautifully tendered garden which also houses a cottage with two bedrooms and shower room for individuals who are more independent. People supported at Kirklea range from individuals who have multiple disabilities to those with mild learning disabilities who require minimum supervision. It's our aim to provide everyone living at Kirklea with a sense of belonging in the community and strive to ensure individuals supported feel Kirklea is their home. Promotion of independence is a major part of our work with everyone actively encouraged to be involved in all decisions affecting their lives. Where appropriate, we encourage and support people to move on to more independent living within the community.
What it's like to live here
Our facilities include a lovely garden with a barbecue for the summer, the dining room doubles as an activity room which is a busy place where key workers guide activities. We go on many different and varied activities to places such as countryside trips, visits to cinemas, theatre, and entertainment centre.
