Welcome to Kilncroft. We offer a very friendly and relaxed ‘home from home’ for all our residents and family and visitors are always welcome. If you would like to find out more about our service, please call us or pop in for a chat and cup of tea.

Overview of the service

Kilncroft is a specialist service for people with dementia, providing 24 hour care for up to 26 men and women aged 40 and over.

Kilncroft treats everyone as individuals, taking their experience and skills into account and promoting personal choice and control. Each person has a comprehensive care package tailored to their specific needs.

We try to create and maintain lifestyles as close as possible to those enjoyed at home and we welcome participation from friends and families.

Who we support:

• Men and women with dementia aged 40 and over

Our service:

• Croft 1 and 2 – for up to eleven people aged 40 to 65
• Kilncroft – for up to fifteen people aged 65 and over
• Recently refurbished four-storey Victorian building with lift access to all levels
• Two gardens with a sun terrace and large lawned area
• Dementia care initiatives based on individual choices, such as support to go to the local shops and carry out other daily living activities
• Furniture, carpets and other fittings carefully chosen to help people understand their environment and move around more independently

Our staff:

• Experienced, NVQ-qualified staff providing 24-hour support
• Allocated named key worker

Activities:

• Everyone encouraged to help out with simple domestic chores, such as clearing tables or folding laundry
• Range of social and leisure activities tailored to the individual, taking in to account their physical abilities and preferences
• Regular pampering sessions including hairdressing, manicures and foot spas
• ‘Music for Health’ and gentle exercise sessions
• Regular visits from chiropodists and other services

• Friendly, welcoming and homely atmosphere
• Everyone encouraged to personalise their rooms with familiar items and family photos
• Special dietary requirements and requests catered for
• Within walking distance of the beach, shopping centre and Hastings ‘Old Town’
• Easy access to public transport with a bus stop at the end of the road and a train station within 20 minutes walk
