Holme House

Holme House is a modern, purpose built independent hospital for men with learning disabilities, mental health issues and complex needs.

Holme House provides a complete care pathway with progression through high dependency, rehabilitation and pre-discharge services.

The people we support are integral to the process of developing care plans, risk assessments and activity timetables. Our emphasis is firmly upon developing the skills necessary to live beyond a hospital environment, with the aim of preparing everyone for discharge into the community within 18-24 months wherever possible.

Who we support

• Men aged 18 and over
• Primary diagnosis of learning disability
• May have dual disgnosis of Autistic Spectrum Conditions or mental health issues
• People detained under the Mental Health Act with significant forensic histories and risk profiles
• People moving on from a low secure environment

Our service

• 8-bed main ward with communal lounges, activity rooms, laundry and dining room
• 3-bed high dependency unit, providing a low stimulus environment for more intensive support
• "27A" - self-contained 4-bed apartment to develop independent living skills
• Westfield View is a separate 4-bed detached bungalow, next door to Holme House. This is a step-down service where the primary focus is on getting patients back to living in the community by developing their independent living skills and confidence

Our staff

• Embedded MDT, including psychiatrists, psychologists, occupational therapists and nursing staff
• 24 hour support and high relational security if required
• Allocated name nurses and key workers

Therapies & activities

• Development of independent living skills, including cooking and domestic skills, money management, decision making, social and communication skills and health education
• On-site Adult Education classes
• Support for paid and voluntary work placements
