Gatehouse Cottages

At Gatehouse Cottages we support people with learning disabilities. We do everything we can to improve the health and wellbeing of the individuals we support and as a team we are focused on building positive outcomes.

Overview of Service

Gatehouse Cottages is split into 3 distinct areas, The Studio, The Lodge and The Cottage. The Studio and The Lodge each offer support for 3 individuals who have expressed an aspiration to move into their own home.

Gatehouse Cottages provides support for people with profound and multiple learning disabilities and complex needs. We are able to offer support from both qualified nurses and support staff.

Everyone we support has their own Person Centred Plan. Each plan is designed to support an individual's personal choices and aspirations and focuses on what is needed to make that happen.

What it's Like to Live Here

The people that we support are encouraged through their Person Centred Plans to achieve their goals and aspirations. For some people this means attending college to access various courses, including cooking, art and daily living skills. For others it means work placements and other day opportunities in line with their goals.

Within the house we continually and consistently promote the development of social skills, independent living and personal responsibility. These include daily skills such as shopping, cooking, doing laundry and cleaning, and tasks are dependent upon an individual's ability. The people who live here are very proud of their home as they have so much involvement in creating it.

Surroundings

Gatehouse Cottages is situated in open countryside, near to Immingham, in North-East Lincolnshire. The Cottages are close to major towns and cities, including Grimsby, Scunthorpe, Hull and Lincoln, with a vast array of social activities and evening activities on offer.

Service Facilities

The surrounding gardens are accessible all year round and provide private space for people who enjoy being outdoors. We have a private sensory garden where individuals and their families spend time at their leisure.

There is also a sensory room that can be accessed at all times.

Bedrooms are individually decorated and furnished to reflect the individuality of the people living there.
