Claremount House

Claremount was newly established in April 2001 in Claremount, Halifax, West Yorkshire. It has been specifically designed to provide care for older people with a severe mental illness. All lounges and many of the bedrooms have a wonderful elevated view of Halifax. Claremount literally means 'Views of the Mountains'. The cobbled stones, used for the facade of the building are Victorian in origin and were part of the original road leading to the Home.

Overview of service

We offer individual care and support by experienced staff, who are motivated to meet individual needs and deliver the highest quality care. We are also able to meet challenging needs. We encourage advocacy and relative involvement at regular carer's meetings, where all elements of individual care can be discussed along with the strategy of the service.

We have individual programmes designed to meet individual needs. We have regular input from the Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist and Chiropodist. We can access Speech Therapy, Dieticians and any other such resource, that would be available within the health service.

What it's like to live here

In-house activities include tea parties, cooking, arts and crafts, personal image and listening to music. The programmes are regularly monitored to ensure individuals abilities and needs are identified and met accordingly.

The service is located in Halifax and boasts a variety of excellent services and is close to all local amenities.

Service facilities

There are 22 extremely large spacious rooms and a large private enclosed garden. Situated at the top of a hill the views to the distant and the night traffic offer astounding views. All people have their own spacious rooms with facilities decorated to a high standard. All bathing, moving and handling equipment is modern and up to date. The dining room is bright and friendly. The menu is extensive and well planned. Individual dietary needs are catered for. Meals and drinks are available throughout the day. There is an on-site hairdresser with a modern salon set up within the Home.
