Cefn Carnau

Cefn Carnau is a low secure hospital that provides therapeutic treatment and support for 22 adults with a range of learning disabilities, complex needs and mental health problems - including people with a forensic history. Our dedication, enthusiasm and imagination rise to every challenge and make positive outcomes a reality.

What it's Like to Live Here

We encourage everyone to get involved in a wide range of educational, vocational and leisure activities.

Every individual is assessed by the Multi Disciplinary Team and differentsessions may be recommended.

These range from psychology sessions, educational sessions, art psychotherapy and occupational therapy. Cefn Carnau has beautiful gardens which are maintained by the horticultural team and individuals are actively involved in the maintenance of them. There are lots of outdoor activities from walking, badminton, tennis, football; we also have our own basketball court.

Surroundings

The hospital is in a rural setting with views across the valleys and Caerphilly town centre. We can be reached by bus from the centre of Caerphilly, which is only 5 miles away. Caerphilly has many shops and is a vibrant town centre, based around the beautiful castle.

Service Facilities

Everyone is supported and encouraged to personalise their bedrooms.

The three hospital cars are available for staff to take individuals out on community leave and there are many local attractions that may be accessed. There are many lovely walks in the area where spectacular views can be seen across the whole of Caerphilly.

With the beautiful gardens at the hospital, there are lots of outdoor activities available from walking round the perimeter track, badminton, tennis, basket ball and other outdoor games. We are able to have barbeques in the summer and as we have such lovely grounds, other Craegmoor independent hospitals are able to join us for some outdoor activities such as sports events and parties.
