Ardsley House

Ardsley House and Cottage supports 15 people with varying levels of learning disability. Our highly trained staff team is committed to providing everyone with a safe and homely environment in which they can live as independently as possible.
Overview of the Service
Ardsley House and Cottage supports 15 people with varying levels of learning disability. Thirteen people live in the main house and a further 2 people in the Cottage, which aims to provide support leading to increased independence.
Everyone is involved in designing their own Person Centred Plan, with support from our friendly and dedicated staff team. Each plan is tailored to individual needs and is designed to enable everyone to make their own choices about the care and support they receive. We encourage and support everyone living at Ardsley House and Cottage to recognise and identify their goals and ambitions and decide how they would like to go about achieving them.
Ardsley House and Cottage supports Craegmoor's communication strategy, "Your Voice", which encourages everyone, based on their preferred method of communication, to voice their views about the support they receive. Monthly meetings are held where individuals are able to represent the views and voices of others living at the service.
What it's Like to Live Here
Everyone at Ardsley House and Cottage is encouraged and supported to take part in a wide range of activities both in and out of the service. We have a weekly activity planner which is set by the people we support. This can include coffee mornings in the local community, arts and crafts, board games, improving computer skills and making jams and crumbles with the fruit we grow in our garden.
People also get involved in planning our annual holidays and in the summer we regularly visit the seaside and have picnics in the local countryside.
Within the house we continually and consistently promote the development of social skills, independent living and personal responsibility. This includes daily skills such as shopping, cooking, doing laundry and cleaning, with tasks dependent upon an individual's ability. The people who live here are very proud of their home as they have so much involvement in creating it.
