The philosophy of care within the service is to promote independence, choice, dignity, empowerment, respect, opportunities and to help individuals to meet and maintain their full potential. The service runs on a high ratio of staff to ensure that all of the peoples needs are met, ensuring that the safety and dignity of the residents is maintained at all times. We have 24-hour staff with a minimum of five care staff in the morning, four in the afternoon and two night staff. The care team undergo an intensive induction and corporate training within the service, specific to the individuals needs. In addition, staff have the opportunity to carry out NVQ training and also infection control training.
Alexandra Road has very close links with the multi-disciplinary team that allows us to access many services with the minimal of waiting time. Alexandra Road promotes Craegmoor's' communication strategy "Your Voice" which ensures that each individual, based on their preferred method of communication, is able to have a voice on how their supported care is provided. Monthly meetings are held where individuals are able to represent the views and voices of fellow individuals. This is extended to a voice at area, divisional and national level. Alexandra Road liaises with families, community organisations, social services departments and purchasing authorities to support Person Centred Care Planning and ensures full account is taken of social, emotional, cultural and spiritual needs of all individuals.
