The Chestnuts offers a warm and homely environment with opportunities for people to extend and enhance the quality of their day-to-day living. We offer 24 hour nursing care for older people.
Overview of service
Those living at the Chestnuts are all supported by experienced staff that ensures their physical, intellectual, emotional and social needs are met. A key philosophy is that individuals maintain as much independence as possible and through the support and care they receive can achieve their full potential in life.
The care and support at the Chestnuts is delivered by a dedicated and professional multi-disciplinary team committed to providing quality care and support. The staff are highly qualified and motivated enabling them to meet the needs of each individual. Each individual care package is specifically planned to reflect personal needs and choices. A qualified nurse or key worker is assigned to each person ensuring a holistic approach to individual care and daily fulfilment. Each member of staff is trained to ensure that personal dignity is maintained at all times.
Choice is paramount and individuals are actively encouraged to make informed choices and maintain independence. We encourage the people living at the Chestnuts and families to actively participate in the planning of care, which is continually monitored. GP’s and occupational therapists are available to give support as required.
We have specialised equipment to aid with Activities of Living, which include handling and bathing equipment. We also offer the services of a chiropodist and optician. The catering team ensures a choice of menus creating fresh, nutritious, homemade meals catering for cultural, medical and personal preference diets.
What it's like to live here
A therapist visits who organises a wide range of daily activities both in and out of the home. Outside entertainers visit the home on regular basis. Activities are planned to meet individual needs but we also respect a person’s need for peace and quiet and choice on how they spend their day.

Situated on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The Chestnuts is located within the village of Llangattock on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Crickhowell and eight miles from Abergavenny.

The Chestnuts has been tastefully decorated throughout with individual décor in each bedroom to meet the requirements and needs of each individual. The Chestnuts boasts a lounge area, dining room and a tranquil, secluded garden which offers relaxing atmosphere and a quiet retreat. Individuals are encouraged to personalise their own space.
