The ordinary story of Joanne’s brilliant transformation
When Joanne moved to Whitby in 2004 she was experiencing severe anxiety, continuously isolated herself and would not communicate with others. With Craegmoor’s support, Joanne has transformed herself into a confident young woman with unlimited possibilities.
Joanne was encouraged to identify things that she really wanted to do – cookery lessons at Whitby College was one of the first things that she did. Utilising her new found confidence and skills, she now volunteers at Oxfam once a week and also helps out in the kitchen at the local Day Care Centre. She loves to meet up with her family and friends – taking the bus to go to lunch in Scarborough and enjoying holidays with Craegmoor’s support.
Joanna never thought all of these things were possible and now she is working towards moving into a more independent living setting.
