Staff thanked over fire evacuation

 Staff at a nursing home who helped evacuate residents during a fire have been thanked, according to a source. Workers cleared the St Budeaux home last week when a blaze broke out, reports thisisplymouth.co.uk.Doreen Nankivell was among those rushed out of the complex after a television in an upstairs room caught fire.The 88-year-old tells the news provider about her appreciation for the care home workers.She states: "I cannot fault it. Everyone did their best. Somebody put a shawl on me to keep me warm. I don't know where it came from."Two residents were taken to a local hospital after the incident, but most were able to return to their rooms within an hour, the news source adds.Elsewhere, plans for an extension to a Scottish care home have been put forward, reports the Press and Journal.Proposals for an additional three-floors to be built on Kynnaird House have been handed to Aberdeenshire council. © 2008 Adfero Ltd.
