Somerset centre praised for 'high quality of service'

 A learning disabilities centre in Somerset has been praised for its high quality of service. The Seahorse Centre in Minehead has been handed the Centre of Excellence Award at the Somerset County Council Community Directorate Awards Ceremony.Somerset County Gazette reports that the centre was praised for its "positive attitude" and for "going the extra mile" in providing day services for adults with learning disabilities.It provides activities and day trips to people across west Somerset and is run by a combination of staff and volunteers.Christine Lawrence, from Somerset county council told the newspaper that the award was a "great achievement"."The Seahorse Centre provides excellent opportunities for adults with learning difficulties to participate in a variety of activities," she added.In other news, Cheshire News reports that the local NHS foundation trust is organising a 60-mile cycle ride to raise the awareness of mental illnesses and learning disabilities, The long-distance ride is part of the NHS' 60th birthday celebrations. © Adfero Ltd
