Dementia film in international festival

 Two film-makers are showcasing a film written to raise awareness of dementia issues at the Hull International Short Film Festival. Stuart Ramsay and Ben Thompson, from Knaresborough, wrote, produced and directed the film Going Home for a self-funded budget of under £2,000, reports the Knaresborough Post.Going Home concentrates on a man with Alzheimer's who escapes from his care home and embarks on a courageous journey.Mr Thompson told the newspaper: "Stuart and I used to talk and dream about making our own films back when we were at school, so it feels great to have finally taken our first steps into this exciting world."We've had terrific support from organisations such as the Knaresborough Players and businesses who supplied locations."It was filmed in Harrogate over a single weekend and starred actor Pete Ivatts, who has previously starred in Heartbeat. The film has already had screenings in Knaresborough, Harrogate and Leeds.Film-maker Paul Watson, who filmed the Alzheimer's documentary Malcolm and Barbara: Love's Farewell, received a special award at the Bafta awards ceremony in London over the weekend. © Adfero Ltd
