Somerset mental health charity awarded grant

11 April 2008

A mental health charity in Somerset has been awarded a grant of £29,129 towards running costs over the next three years.

Mind, in Taunton and West Somerset, got the grant from the Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales which will guarantee the organisations future over the period.

The charity provides mental health support across Somerset from offices based in Taunton and Minehead. It runs a range of support groups and activities.

Stuart Hooper, chief executive of the organization, told the Somerset county Gazette: "At the beginning of the financial year, it's fantastic to receive such a boost.

"The LloydsTSB Foundation has been a great supporter of us in the past and this grant will enable us to continue to support and campaign on behalf of mental health service users."

Mindline Somerset, which receives over 1,500 calls a year, recently received donations to expand its telephone helpline service. It received £1,000 from the Souter Charitable Trust and £500 from the Alchemy Foundation.
