About The Shores

The Shores is a specialised service for people with learning disabilities and complex needs. Short respite stays can often be accommodated at this service.

We like to promote independence and we recognise that privacy is important to everyone we support.

Our approach to care:

We are committed to providing just enough support to empower and encourage all individuals utilising our services to develop the skills they need to live as independently as possible. By using Person Centred Plans, we help people to work towards a level of independence which fits with their skills, confidence and aspirations.

The people we support at The Shores are able to provide feedback and make suggestions about the care and support they receive by Craegmoor’s “Your Voice” feedback programme, as well as through regular meetings held within the home.

What it’s like to live here:

People who currently live at The Shores like to help with meal planning, cooking, cleaning, activity planning, socialising and gardening on a regular basis. Some of the people we support go on work placements and particularly enjoy this independence.

Situated in Parkstone, within walking distance of the shopping area on Ashley Road and Tower Park, The Shores is ideally situated to provide a range of activities for the people we support. The Shores is in close proximity to The Moorings and The Dunes - two other Craegmoor services in Dorset. This enables individuals from each service to join together for shared activities, if they so choose.

We encourage the people we support to personalise their rooms to their own taste as well as to take an active role in the running of the home and to put forward their own ideas through “Your Voice”.

“The Shores help me to be independent and encourage me with activities.” – Person supported by The Shores
