About The Bungalow

The Bungalow in Lydd is a specialist, male-only service, which supports five individuals with learning disabilities and behaviours that challenge. At The Bungalow, we provide 24 hour support. Wherever possible, we encourage and support people to live as independently as they can and as a team we are focused on building positive outcomes for the people we support.

Our approach to support:

The people residing at The Bunglow are encouraged and actively involved in designing their own Person Centred Plan, with full assistance from staff. The plans are tailored to suit individual needs and provide the correct level of support required. They also enable all individuals to make their own choices about the nature of support they receive. We encourage and assist everyone at The Bungalow to recognise and identify their targets, goals and aspirations and how they would like to go about achieving them.

The Bungalow promotes Craegmoor's communication strategy, "Your Voice", which encourages individuals, based on their preferred method of communication, the opportunity and choice to voice their views and opinions about the care and support they receive.

What it’s like to live here:

The people living at The Bungalow are fairly independent and enjoy going on bike rides, attending concerts, and using local leisure facilities. Individuals also get involved in household tasks and community events and activities.

The Historic town of Lydd is a five minute walk away and there is a regular bus service to Ashford, Folkestone and Hastings. We are close to the coast and surrounded by open fields.

“I like living here, it is better than my old home.” – Person supported by The Bungalow

Facilities:

The Bungalow is a large, detached colt bungalow set in half an acre of mature gardens that backs on to a stream and has beautiful flower beds and a vegetable plot. The front of the bungalow boasts an uninterrupted view over Romney Marsh, towards Rye.

There are large communal areas that people supported by the service take full advantage of. Individuals at The Bungalow are also fully involved with the redecoration of their home and are actively supported and encouraged to personalise their bedrooms.
