About Strathmore House

Strathmore House supports people with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour, providing a safe and homely environment where all individuals can make their own choices about the support they receive.

Our approach to support:

People and their families and friends are encouraged to actively participate in the planning of support, which is carefully monitored and reviewed at regular intervals.

We work closely with local services such as the community learning disability team, community nurses, psychologists, speech therapists, local health centres and other health care services.

What it’s like to live here:

There are a wide range of activities to get involved in at the service, which everyone helps to choose and organise. Popular activities include swimming, bowling, cinema visits, socialising in pubs and shopping. Some of the individuals at Strathmore House are involved in athletics, basketball and aerobics, and are also able to boast that they have taken part in the Special Olympics.

Other people we support attend activities outside of our service. The include college courses, work placements and jobs. We provide the necessary assistance as required to all the individuals we support in applying for and securing these positions.

Strathmore House is situated in Dresden and has easy access to local shops and amenities. The service is located opposite a large park, where individuals play football and other sports.

“The staff are brilliant.” – Person supported by Strathmore House

Strathmore House boasts a substantial, airy lounge, a dining room, a conservatory and a kitchen. Everyone is supported and encouraged to personalise their bedrooms to make the house as homely as possible.
