Spode Close

Located in Swindon, Spode Close is a bespoke specialist autism service for up to seven individuals with autistic spectrum conditions and associated complex needs.

Spode Close supports people aged 18 years and over, however we can also accommodate individuals that are 17 years old who are going through a transition from Children’s Services having been identified via the transforming care agenda.

We pride ourselves on bringing together the best qualities of a local service, with the support and expertise of an established and well-respected service provider.

Our services

Spread over two floors, Spode Close offers a homely environment that promotes independent living. The specialist support provided includes:

  • Seven independent apartments
  • A low stimulus, homely and relaxed environment, whilst offering robust furnishings
  • Spacious, communal lounge with access to safe and private garden
  • Innovative person-centred support programmes and personal activity planners
  • Intensive interactive communication and environment
  • A large garden that is safe and private
  • One-to-one specialist support as required
  • Access to education and supported employment opportunities
  • Progression through a care pathway to live as independently as possible
  • Access to multi-professionals from allied healthcare practitioners and a dedicated positive behaviour support specialist

Our specialist staff team

The staff team at Spode Close have significant experience and expertise in supporting people with complex autism, learning disabilities, mental health and behaviours that challenge. A dedicated positive behaviour support practitioner is also part of the staff team, as well as Craegmoor’s specialist autism leads being available to support the residents.

This seven bed service is spread over two floors and brings together the best qualities of a local service, with the support and expertise of an established and well-respected service provider.

The ground floor has two robust independent apartments and five apartments on the first and second floors, which offer a homely environment that promotes independent living.

As well as the independent apartments, Spode Close has a communal lounge, activity room and a shared Activities of Daily Living (ADL) kitchen.

The service is also close to local amenities and has good public transport links with easy access to major bus routes, train stations and the M4 motorway linking it to major cities such as York, London and Bristol.

Spode Close may be suitable for those who meet the following admissions criteria:

  • Adults aged 18 years and upwards
  • We can also accommodate individuals that are 17 years old, who are going through a transition from Children’s Services having been identified via the transforming care agenda.
