About The Mews
At The Mews we support eight people with a wide range of learning disabilities. We do everything we can to improve the health and wellbeing of the people we support and as a team we are focused on building positive outcomes for everyone.
Our approach to support:
We transform traditional residential care into a modern, vibrant way of living and which represents a stepping stone towards independence.
The assistive technology in each apartment provides a safe, private environment to live in, via the use of sensors fitted throughout each apartment. This means support staff can be alerted immediately to any issues which may arise. Situations such as wandering and falling, as well as environmental issues are all covered through the installation of these sensors. We also have electric gates for extra security.
What it’s like to live here:
We encourage and support everyone to get involved in a wide variety of educational, vocational and leisure activities.
Everyone is encouraged to work towards developing key skills, which could be anything from learning basic cooking skills, to being able to book a holiday alone. Three skill levels have been devised which are: skills for me, moving up and moving on. Everyone is encouraged and assisted with their daily tasks and supported to plan and budget in all areas.
Staff members support individuals living at The Mews to plan and budget for meals and to shop for the ingredients. Staff also encourage individuals to maintain a balanced, healthy and nutritional diet.
People living at The Mews enjoy a range of activities including reading, socialising, using computers, playing games, baking, bowling and bike riding.
The Mews is located in the quaint setting of Bramley village in Rotherham town centre and there are lots of shops and restaurants nearby. The Mews is close to local bus and train stations and is accessible to motorway links for the M18.
