About Maple House

Maple House provides 24 hour support for six adults with learning disabilities, autism and/or challenging behaviour. We are passionate about providing a safe and homely environment, where all individuals can make their own choices about the support they receive.

As a team, we do everything that we can to improve the health and wellbeing of the individuals we support. We are focused on building positive outcomes for everyone so people can go on to lead lives that are as independent as possible.

Our approach to support:

At Maple House, all individuals are involved in designing their own Person Centred Plan, created with the support of staff. These plans are tailored to suit individual needs and provide the correct level of support required. We provide everything from basic assistance to 1:1 support when necessary. Person Centred Plans enable all individuals to make their own choices about the support they receive. We encourage and support those at Maple House to recognise and identify their goals and ambitions and how they would like to go about meeting them.

Maple House promotes Craegmoor's communication strategy "Your Voice", which encourages individuals, based on their preferred method of communication, to voice their views about the support they receive. Monthly meetings are held where individuals are able to represent the views and voices of others living at the service.

What it’s like to live here:

There are many activities to get involved in at Maple House, both in and out of the service. These include taking part in gardening groups, going horse riding, going swimming and playing tennis. There are also opportunities for individuals to develop their housekeeping, cooking and computer skills.

Maple House is located close by to Dover Castle, which provides an enjoyable day for the people supported by Maple House. Aside from the castle, we are only a 10 minute walk from Folkestone town centre, which offers a wide variety of shops and facilities, including the local bus station.

Five minutes away by foot is the local train station that boasts the new high-speed rail link to London in 40 minutes. Ashford is only 20 minutes away and offers a large bowling alley, designer factory outlet and large shopping precinct.

"I like the staff here and they help me to do nice things. I go out every morning with staff to buy my paper." - Person supported by Maple House

Maple House is an old period building with many original features; it has been decorated tastefully and provides a large living space. Within the property there are six bedrooms which are equipped with hand basin facilities, whilst there are two communal bathrooms with showers.

We have a large garden which is often used in the summer to hold barbecues and other social events. There is an in-house sensory room, which people are supported to use. The weekly menu at Maple House is designed with all individuals in mind and is reflective of dietary needs and preferences.
