Based in Kilmarnock, the team at Kirklea is on hand to provide support for up to 12 adults with learning disabilities. Our home offers a safe and comfortable environment where individuals can develop the skills that they need in order to live as independently as possible.
Our approach to support:
The people supported at Kirklea range from individuals who have multiple disabilities, to those with mild learning disabilities who require minimum support. It is our aim to provide everyone living at Kirklea with a sense of belonging in the community and strive to ensure that they feel at home in their environment.
Promotion of independence is a major part of our work with everyone actively encouraged to be involved in all decisions affecting their lives; we do this by means of Person Centred Plans, which are developed for the individual being supported and are specifically tailored to reflect their personal needs and choices.
Where appropriate, we encourage and support people to move on to more independent living within the community.
What it’s like to live here:
People we support at Kirklea like to make use of our garden in the summer time, with barbecues proving a popular option. Other in-house activities we offer include art sessions, cooking lessons and musical entertainment. Much of this takes place in our dining room which doubles as an activity area.
They can also access many varied activities, including countryside trips, visits to cinemas, theatres, and entertainment centres.
Kirklea is located in the centre of Kilmarnock with all the facilities of a thriving local community within walking distance. We enjoy a superb location with shops, leisure centre, cinema, park, pubs, and clubs on our doorstep. Kirklea has its own car park with easy access for wheelchair users.
