About Halifax Drive
Based in Leicester, Halifax Drive provides support for adults from the age of 18 with learning disabilities and associated behavioural and mental health problems. Some of the people we support also have communication difficulties or present behaviours that challenge, and predominately have dual diagnosis, as well as a range of other disabilities such as epilepsy or Down’s syndrome.
Our approach to support:
Halifax Drive offers long term care and support as well as short break opportunities for individuals. Our staff members are passionate about improving the health and wellbeing of the people we support by building positive outcomes for everyone.
The service is also supported by a quality assurance team whose aim is to empower people to take control of their lives, and where possible, work towards a level of independence which fits with their skills, confidence and aspirations.
What it’s like to live here:
There are a wide range of activities to get involved with at Halifax Drive, both within the service and in the local community. Everybody living here helps to choose and plan the activities they would like to get involved in and additional learning such as attending college is actively encouraged by the staff team and support provided, if this is a request from the individual. The programme is augmented with confidence building activities, which include arts and crafts, outdoor pursuits, college programmes, social visits and a library run by the people that we support.
Holidays play an active part in our monthly 'Your Voice' meetings and everyone is encouraged to discuss where they would like to go on their annual holiday as well as who they would like to go with.
