Fernleigh House

Located in Leyland, Lancashire, Fernleigh House supports six adults with autism, learning disabilities and epilepsy. We aim to provide a safe and caring environment where learning and living is an enjoyable experience enabling people to develop as individuals.

We believe that through a person-centred approach to care and support, this provides the pathway tools for individuals to live in a more independent setting in the future, always ensuring that the people we support have their needs met to the highest of standards.

Our specialist staff team

The staff team at Fernleigh House have significant expertise in supporting people with autism, learning disabilities and epilepsy. We believe in a multidisciplinary approach to care and support, which is why we work closely with other professionals including social workers, podiatrists and opticians.

Living at Fernleigh House

Fernleigh House is a calm, peaceful and homely environment. There is a variety of community-based activities for people to take part in such as:

  • Creative arts
  • College courses
  • Cinema
  • Concerts
  • Football
  • Museums

There is also on-site transport available to assist people to access the community, where required. Within the home we continually and consistently promote the development of social skills, independent living and personal responsibility. This includes daily skills such as:

  • Budgeting
  • Cooking
  • Cleaning
  • Laundry

Fernleigh House is a six bedded house that consists of three downstairs bedrooms and three upstairs rooms. All rooms are a large size with three also having en-suite facilities.

There is a communal lounge and a kitchen where people can prepare their meals, as well as a dining room where we have a large table for everyone to sit around at meal times, if desired.

To the rear of the house, we have a spacious garden where people can enjoy the sunshine with BBQ’s, participate in outdoor activities or just relax.

Fernleigh House is located within easy access to local retailers, restaurants and health facilities such as the dentist and GP. The home is also located within easy reach of Preston city centre where there is a wide variety of facilities and activities.

Fernleigh House may be suitable for those who meet the following admissions criteria:

  • Adults with a learning disability
  • Adults who may also present complex/challenging behaviour
