About our service
Apple Mews has been developed to provide care for up to 30 adults with learning disabilities, autism and complex physical disabilities. It will provide nursing care and a range of programmes to support the development of independence and life skills. Residents will also have access to daily activities including arts, music, education, sensory and outdoor activities.
The homely and comfortable environment has been designed to enable person centred care and to assist people who cannot live in their own homes to maintain as much independence as possible.
Our approach to care:
Our service is run by an experienced manager, who is supported by a team of trained nurses and support workers. We believe in a multidisciplinary approach to care, which is why we work closely with other professionals including GP’s, medical professionals, SALT, Dieticians, Specialized regional roles, social workers, chiropodists, opticians and community psychiatric nurses.
We hold the philosophy that each person should take the lead in their care programme. We understand that each person has different needs, interests and hobbies, which is why personal input is so important.
What it’s like to live here:
Apple Mews organises day trips to places of interest, as well as holidays that are further afield. Residents are invited to suggest ideas for these trips at our regular meetings, which also provide individuals with the chance to provide feedback about their care.
There is a wide range of in-house activities including board games, and outings to swimming pools and other local facilities are easily organised. We have a quiet room where individuals can access a safe and secure computer. Our life skills coach organises a range of daily activities both in and out of the home that are planned in conjunction with the wishes of those who use our service.
Situated in Cathedral Road, Armagh we are conveniently located near good public amenities including pubs, cinemas cafes and swimming pools. Apple Mews is easily accessible by public transport.
