About Anchor House

Based in Poole, Anchor House offers a residential service for people with physical, learning disabilities and behaviour that can challenge. The site has been specially designed for people with complex needs in order to make the space as comfortable and welcoming as possible.

Our safe and caring environment enables individuals to live as independently as possible, whilst still accessing vital services and the support from members of staff.

Our approach to support:

We are committed to providing just enough support to empower and encourage all individuals utilising our services to develop the skills they need to live as independently as possible. By using Person Centred Plans, we help people to work towards a level of independence which fits with their skills, confidence and aspirations.

Everyone supported at Anchor House is able to provide feedback and make suggestions about the care and support they receive through Craegmoor’s “Your Voice” feedback initiative.

What it’s like to live here:

The people we support who currently live at Anchor House are helped in all aspects of their care - including medication, sensory stimulation and personal care. Individuals are also supported in accessing community services and meaningful day activities which provide new experiences and challenges.

Anchor House is situated in the Parkstone area of Poole with a wide choice of amenities, with both Poole and Bournemouth town centres also lying in close proximity to the service. Anchor House is also within walking distance of shops and two leisure complexes.

“Craegmoor staff have helped me to understand myself better.” – Person supported by Craegmoor

Facilities:

Each individual is encouraged to personalise their own room according to their taste and needs. There are also excellent communal facilities including a separate lounge, kitchen area, and utility room. People can also make use of a sensory snug area and a hot tub for hydrotherapy sessions.

The service benefits from a large rear garden with a summer house, and a patio which is ideal for summer barbecues.

To fully meet the needs of individuals with physical disabilities, we have specialist equipment such as overhead hoists and a wet room.
