About Aire House

Aire House provides assessment and support for adults living with a primary learning disability diagnosis but may present complex conditions. Some of the people we support also have communication difficulties as well as a range of other disabilities such as autism or epilepsy.

Our service offers 24/7 specialist residential care which is designed to provide just the right level of support; we encourage individuals to develop the skills that they need to live as independently as possible. We offer 1:1 staffing where required and have installed a nurse-call system in each room.

Our approach to support:

Each person utilising our service is encouraged to contribute to the development and evaluation of their own ‘Person Centred Plan’. We also encourage family members, social workers and others chosen by the individual to be involved in this process.

Individuals at Aire House are able to progress through our care pathways in order to fulfil their maximum potential and to live more independently. We provide a safe and caring environment where people can work towards a level of independence which fits their skills, confidence and aspirations.

What it’s like to live here:

There are many educational and activity programmes to get involved in at Aire House. Activities include attending the local college and adult training centres.

Within the house we continually promote the development of social skills, independent living and personal responsibility. We find that the people who live at Aire House are very proud of their home as they are directly involved in creating it. Individuals get involved in daily duties such as cooking, doing laundry and cleaning, depending upon their ability.

Many enjoy the social occasions arranged by Aire House, such as: eating out, going shopping, going to music concerts, football or rugby matches, trips to theme parks, visits to the local Turkish spa baths and much, much more.

Approximately a two minute walk away there are local shops including a pharmacy, a post office, a newsagent and a small supermarket, as well as a large local park. The main town of Harrogate is approximately one mile away. Harrogate has a main college just outside of town and there are smaller learning centres in and around the local area.

Aire House itself is a Victorian property set over four floors, with communal areas set over the lower two floors.

All of our eight bedrooms are spacious, well-furnished and decorated to the tastes of each individual using our service. Two of our bedrooms also have en-suite facilities. Communal areas include the kitchen, dining rooms, laundry room and lounge and they have all been refurbished to provide a comfortable and homely living environment.

The menu at Aire House is developed by individuals to suit personal preference and reviewed within the monthly "Your Voice" feedback meetings. Everyone is encouraged to prepare their own meals and snacks.

Outside, people who use our service can enjoy paved areas to the front and the rear as well as picnic tables and barbecues which are ideal for use in the summer months.
