About Lansdowne Road

At Lansdowne Road, we support people who have been diagnosed with a learning disability. We aim to provide a safe and homely environment, where all individuals can make their own choices about the support that they receive.

Our approach to support:

Our highly trained team at Lansdowne Road is able to provide 24 hour support for those who live at the service. All members of staff complete the relevant training required to better accommodate the needs of each individual.

To enable each person to make their own choices about the support that they receive, a Person Centred Plan is created for each individual with the assistance of a member of staff.

Lansdowne Road promotes Craegmoor's communication strategy "Your Voice", which encourages individuals, based on their preferred method of communication, to voice their views about the support they receive. Monthly meetings are held where individuals are able to represent the views and voices of others living at the service.

What it’s like to live here:

At Lansdowne Road there is a range of activities to get involved in, both in and out of the service. A typical day for people living here might include going to work, attending college classes, and/or going to day services. One-to-one and group activities are also available for residents. All individuals at Lansdowne Road are encouraged and supported to assist with cooking, baking and daily chores.

We are based only a short distance from Leicester city centre, which has a wide range of shopping and leisure facilities available for those who wish to utilise them. Also nearby is a library, local shops, parks, and a leisure centre - all within walking distance from the service. For those who are happy to use the local transport system, it is also possible to access cinemas, bingo halls, restaurants, large shopping centres, museums and places of historical interest, which are all a short bus ride away.

“I don’t get bored, I am independent and do what I like, I do everything myself and the staff are nice and talk, support me in things I find difficult.” – Person supported by Lansdowne Road.

Facilities:

Lansdowne Road is split into four areas, each offering different levels of support tailored to the varying needs of each individual:

  • The people who are supported in Group A live in a separate house
  • The people who are supported in Group B and C live in the same building, both of which have separate entrances
  • The people who are supported in Group 71 live in a house that is next to Group A

Our aim is to provide a comfortable environment for everyone being supported across the four groups. Each area has a spacious main lounge and everyone helps to decide how they would like them to be decorated.

Admissions criteria:

Lansdowne Road support individuals who meet the following admissions criteria:

  • Adults aged 18 years and over
  • Individuals who have been diagnosed with a learning disability
  • May have other conditions such as mental health issues, epilepsy or Down’s syndrome
