Over the last 12 months, the team at Catchpole Court have invested enormous time and effort in the development of their dementia care, exceeding the expectations of service users, and their service is now sought after by the local community for the standard of care provided. The creation of two new sensory gardens has provided service users and their relatives with an independent and safe area to sit and relax and enjoy the tranquil surroundings.

The home received an award from Ayrshire Council for promoting Equality and Diversity, as well gaining the Investors in People award. The atmosphere of the home is such that staff, residents and relatives feel that they belong to a caring community.

Families and professionals allied to the home are confident and happy in the care provision offered, and staff make such effort to dress the house on special occasions, which are shared with service users relatives who enjoy joining in with the festivities.

The service users at Highcross House are actively involved in the running of the home through the monthly Your Voice meetings, and are encouraged to participate in planning and decision making. Through a committee, families also have significant input in the service and are very active in raising money for the home. The staff constantly encourage and support service users to maintain and improve their daily living skills and all aspects of household activities are a joint effort.
