Kent care home rated 'good' by the CQC

A care home in Kent, St Brannocks, has been rated 'good' overall and in all categories by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the health and social care watchdog. In the report, inspectors said, "People received the care they needed and the staff were responsive to their needs. The service had a strong, visible person-centred culture. Staff had developed positive relationships with people and their friends and families".

A relative of a resident said to inspectors, "the staff are all lovely and have got to know them really well". A resident commented, "I can talk to the staff, and they listen to me."

Residents are supported to do a range of activities. Recently they have chosen to go bowling, go shopping and visit local restaurants. One resident fulfilled a long time goal of travelling on the Orient Express.

Bedrooms are personalised with personal possessions and photographs. There are large dining and lounge areas for people to socialise and to do various recreational activities.

St Brannocks is managed by Priory Adult Care, a new division within the renowned Priory Group which was formed in April from bringing together two Priory adult care divisions, Craegmoor and Amore Care. The home supports people with autism, learning disabilities and behaviours that challenge. It is located in New Romney, Kent.

Monique Smith, Registered Manager, said: "I am thrilled with this report. I am particularly pleased that inspectors praised our 'person-centred culture' as this is what we pride ourselves on. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my strong team, who do their utmost for our residents, day in day out."

James Willis, CEO of Priory Adult Care, said: "This is an excellent service. The report clearly demonstrates that the home has a warm and friendly environment, which residents really enjoy living in.
