Award-winning Craegmoor manager launches new service in Worcestershire
It aims to help adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs live independently
NEW opportunities for adults with learning disabilities and other mental health needs to live independently will be possible thanks to a link-up between the local council and the Priory Group.
Headed by award-winning manager Sally Jobling, Supporting You In the Midlands (SYI Midlands). Provide support to vulnerable people, enabling them to live - with support from specialist support workers - either in their own homes or a shared tenancy in the community.
The service is run by Craegmoor, part of the Priory Group, the UK’s leading provider of behavioural care, and well-known for its chain of hospitals and clinics.
Its aim is to encourage individuals to develop their self-esteem, skills and confidence so they can participate in community life.
Mrs Jobling, regional manager for SYI Midlands, said: “We have now gained a place on Worcestershire County Council’s list of approved contractors of domiciliary care and housing with support.
“This means that, working with housing providers, we can provide personalised support, tailored to individuals’ needs.
“We’ve opened a new registered office in Worcestershire and will be bringing employment opportunities to the area. We’d invite anyone interested in our services, or in working for us, to come by and talk to us.”
Mrs Jobling said the Worcester office “unites the areas within my region where we currently support people: Hereford, Gloucester, Birmingham and surrounding boroughs, Staffordshire, Stoke and Cannock”.
Working with housing providers, Craegmoor has been able to offer housing solutions to customers who may never have thought they could have their own tenancy, or eventually own their own home. They are able to ensure the properties include adaptations and technology that help individuals live as independently as possible.
Mrs Jobling recently won the senior manager award at The 2015 National Learning Disability and Autism Awards.
She said: “By supporting people the way they want and need, we always try to make a positive difference. Craegmoor is the UK’s leading independent provider of support for people with learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, complex needs and behaviours that challenge. It offers tailored support packages to help people develop vocational, social, education and life skills to enable them to progress to a more independent future.”
